2015 Commit #17 – CJ Levine

UTSA parlays their on-field success against Houston into a nice recruiting win. CJ Levine is a ball hawking safety from Port Author Memorial that turned down offers from Houston, Nevada, and New Mexico State to commit to UTSA. At 5’11”, 175 pounds Levine isn’t a physical freak but he has great instincts and field vision. Levine seems to be a film junkie that loves to prepare for games and that hard mental work translates into turnovers on the field. With Triston Wade and Tevin Broussard graduating, Levine will be in line to play as a freshman at free safety. Levine should be able to use his instincts to translate his skill to the collegiate level but I’m a bit concerned about his speed and athleticism since his SPARQ combine numbers don’t exactly jump off the page. Having offers from two pretty good programs assuages my fears. Look for UTSA to bring one or two more free safeties on board in this class. The staff might feel inclined to grab a JUCO guy for depth in case Nate Gaines doesn’t progress throughout the season.
