2015 Commit #9 – Derrick Dick

Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1407356/derrick-dick

Superlatives: First off, this. First team all-district 14-5A. 1386 career receiving yards on 96 receptions (14.44 YPC) for 16 TDs. 64 career caries for 259 yards (4.05 YPC) and two rushing TDs.

My Take: The future of the UTSA offense gained another playmaker today with A&M Consolidated athlete Derrick Dick committing to join his teammate Kerry Thomas in San Antonio. When it comes to guys that can make explosive plays in space, a CUSA school can’t ask for much more than Derrick Dick. Primarily a slot receiver, Dick has also seen snaps as a scat back in the backfield. I think UTSA plans on using Dick in the jet sweep and screen game, an area that he shows expertise in throughout his epic 20 minute highlight video. For a guy that measures at just 5’9″, Dick is well built and has a surprisingly long stride. Hey, stop laughing you pervert. Dick also does a great job of fighting through contact, reminding me of Brandon Armstrong and his small-man-strength.

Position Recruiting Moving Forward: With four commits locked in, UTSA should be wrapped up here. As Matty pointed out on Twitter, there’s always room for Billy McCrary. Now how about that defense?
